Community and Annual Events in Long Branch, New Jersey

Long Branch, New Jersey is home to a variety of different community and annual events. Some events are offered on an annual basis and attract visitors to this charming seaside resort town year after year. No matter what types of entertainment and activities you enjoy, you are likely to find Long Branch annual events to suit your taste.

One of the most well known and popular annual events is Oceanfest in Long Branch. This family friendly event offers plenty of activities for everyone on the Promenade in Long Branch. The event is a full day festival that offers live musical entertainment, a host of different foods, vendors, children's entertainment, arts and crafts and much more. The event culminates with a fireworks show; one of the largest in the entire state. Admission to the event is free and the festival takes place every 4th of July.

The New Jersey Marathon festival is another of the popular Long Branch annual events. Prior to the implementation of the New Jersey Marathon, the Jersey Shore Marathon was held annually from 1972 until 1985. This marathon was held every November; however, that was considered to be too close to the New York City Marathon, which led to its ending in 1985.

The idea of promoting another marathon first came to fruition in 1995 and in 1997 the marathon was returned to the shores of this charming Jersey town. Since that first marathon on April 27, 1997, the marathon has been held every year. More than 1,000 runners registered for the first race, with 800 of the runner completing the marathon. There were more than 10,000 participants in the race in 2009, representing areas from all over the state as well as 40 other states and even 10 countries.
